Kahuzi Biega National Park
Kahuzi Biega National Park is one of the hot spots for low land gorilla trekking in the Eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo, in Rubavu region, which is just an hour drive away from Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda.
Kahuzi Biega National Park has been gazette since 1970, and has been receiving a number of tourists who come to trek the low land gorillas, which is believed to be a lifetime experience.
In this park the terrain is rough while accessing the areas mostly starting from Kahuzi Tourists Centre but a 4×4 Safari jeep will ensure you get to the destination on time to enjoy the gorilla trekking.
As majority of tourists head to trek the mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park, Volcanoes National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park, the Kahuzi Biega National Park, has also received a great number of tourists who travel to see the low land gorillas.
You can as well combine the low land gorilla trekking, with a wildlife safari to Akagera National Park or Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
The park can easily be accessed from Rwanda, through Kigali airport and is just a 6 hour drive away. The park can as well be accessed through Burundi, and it’s just 6 hour’s drive away from Bujumbura.
Low land gorilla trekking and Kahuzi Biega can easily be combined with Rwanda safaris, of Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk at Nyungwe Forest. This tour can as well be combined with a boat ride on Lake Kivu. In case the client would like to trek the golden monkeys at Volcanoes National Park, still the tour can be arranged, with the client visiting Kahuzi Biega, and return from the trek and transfer to Musanze.
Kahuzi Biega National Park is safer compared to the Virunga part, which is always having constant security threats.
This park can be visit, for one night or two night stay, for gorilla trekking adventure, with a transfer from Kigali.
