Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali. Travel time +2hrs
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at your hotel this morning, our safari guide will pick you up at 7:00 am for your journey to Akagera National Park. The drive to the park takes approximately 2.5 hours, depending on the number of stopovers along the way. As you travel through the captivating and picturesque landscapes, feel free to request stops to capture memorable photos. Arrive at Akagera National Park, head for a short game drive and later proceed to your accommodation for lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a scenic boat trip on Lake Ihema. Upon arrival, you will board the boat and head to observe hippos and crocodiles in the lake and along the shores. You will encounter buffaloes and elephants leisurely wallowing by the water’s edge. After the boat trip, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Game drive and transfer back to Kigali
Begin your day with an early breakfast at 6:00 AM before departing for a morning game drive in Akagera National Park. This is the perfect time to observe the park’s nocturnal hunters retreating and its early risers starting their day. The game drive will focus on spotting iconic wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelope species, as well as the recently reintroduced lions and rhinos. Akagera’s diverse habitats also make it a haven for bird enthusiasts, with over 500 bird species earning it a reputation as a birding paradise. You will leave the lodge with a packed lunch for this approximately 6-hour game drive, which can be extended based on your interests. The route will take you along the scenic lakeshore, often providing excellent opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife. After the game drive, you will begin your journey back to Kigali. Depending on your plans, you will either be dropped off at your lodge or at the airport in time for your afternoon flight.
