3 Days Rwanda Gorillas Safari Adventure
A 3 Days Rwanda Gorillas Safari Adventure is one of the perfect Rwanda safari packages that you can choose to book for your Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure, An encounter with the huge but gentle mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda is the leading and popular tourist activity done by most of the visitors coming to visit Rwanda for adventure moments.
Gorilla trekking is now re-known as one of the most remarkable adventure tours, most tourists that have done it describe it as a life time experience filled with magical moments where you get to encounter with the endangered mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat at a very close range and after hiking through the forests and finding them, you get to spend a full hour with them observing them.
On a 3 days Rwanda gorilla’s safari adventure, you are transferred from the city setting of beautiful Kigali driving on the clean and well maintained roads of Rwanda and you head to Volcanoes National Park the only home to mountain Gorillas in Rwanda located in the village setting of Musanze in the northern province of the country. Getting to Volcanoes National Park by road from Kigali only takes roughly 2 hours however there is an option of using the helicopter flight to Volcanoes National Park which only takes 30 minutes.
The first day of your 3 days Rwanda gorillas safari adventure, if you are already in Kigali or after arriving in Rwanda you can choose to do a half day Kigali city tour which usually includes visiting Kigali genocide memorial grounds and other famous touristic places in Kigali before hitting the road to the Volcanoes National Park.
Once you are in Volcanoes National Park, on your second day, it is when you now go for your remarkable and exciting Gorilla trekking experience, it usually starts early in the morning at 7:30am with a short briefing at the park headquarters by the park officials, they do brief you about the rules and regulations about gorilla trekking and then assign you to a gorilla family to trek on that day, each gorilla family is allowed to be trekked by a maximum number of 8 people and thus you will be joined by other people for your trekking.
If there are not many people trekking that day to join in with a group of 8, you will still go for your gorilla encounter experience accompanied by park rangers and porters. After briefing and being assigned to a group, you then set off to the montane rain forests to search for that very assigned gorilla family and on finding the gorillas you are allowed a full hour to spend with them. The whole entire gorilla trekking experience usually takes 4 to 6 hours depending on the movement of gorillas.
After your trekking experience in the afternoon you can choose to relax at your lodge, there is a great number of luxury, midrange and standard accommodation facilities around Volcanoes National Park. You can also choose to complement your gorilla safari with a cultural experience at the Ibyiwacu cultural center to have an insight about Rwandan culture and traditions or visit the newly opened Ellen DeGeneres campus of the Diane Fossey gorilla fund to have an insight about the history & gorilla conservation works of Diane Fossey while in Rwanda before returning to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.
On your last day of the 3 days Rwanda gorilla safari adventure, you embark on your journey back to Kigali to catch up with your departure flight at Kigali International Airport or if you have a late evening flight, you can choose to also do another exciting Golden Monkey trekking experience still in the volcanoes National Park to have an encounter with the shy but yet lovely Golden Monkey species, the experience is also done in the morning and usually takes 2 to 4 hours whereby later you can embark on your journey back to Kigali for your flight back home.
Another exciting adventure activity to combine with your gorilla trekking experience on a 3 days Rwanda gorilla safari adventure is a visit to Lake Kivu, after your gorilla trekking on day 2 you can transfer to Lake Kivu which is just one hours’ drive away from Volcanoes National Park, and on arrival in the evening to relax or you do the fishermen experience, spend a night in one of the surrounding beautiful lodges, there is also a great number of accommodation facilities around Lake Kivu and on the third day you do a morning boat trip on lake Kivu before transferring back to Kigali for your departure.
