The 12 Days Rwanda Uganda Primate Safari will greatly immerse you to the jungles of both Uganda and Rwanda parks. Day 1: Airport Transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will go through customs and immigration, and you will be met by our company guide who will warmly welcome you to the Land of a thousand hills that Rwanda is known for, and later drive to your booked hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park. Travel time +5 hours

Early morning enjoy your breakfast and checkout of the hotel and drive heading to the western province, on your way visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province, this will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership of Kingship with an enroute lunch.  You will reach in the afternoon at Nyungwe national park and spend the afternoon at your leisure. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and  Canopy walk

Today, after your early morning cup of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience th​e chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. During the chimpanzee trekking you may as well cite other primate such as the famous Congo colobus monkeys. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 90 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a lucky day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze with enroute boat trip on Lake Kivu

After the morning breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu with the beautiful views over Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, You will take a boat ride to explore the beautiful islands  within this lake. You have a nature walk at one of the islands within this lake which is known for harboring thousands of the bats. This lake is also known as a birding paradise as it hosts a number of bird species like the cormorant, pied kingfishers, weaver birds, heron to mention but a few. You will later return and drive off to Musanze which is roughly a 3 hours’ drive. Musanze is a tourism area near Volcanoes National Park, where most of the lodges are located since there are no lodges inside of the park.Overnight and dinner at the booked accommodation.

Day 5: Diana Fossey Tomb hike in Volcanoes NP

After breakfast in the morning, your safari driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to the park.
The drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi takes approximately 30 minutes. At exactly 7:00 AM, you will arrive at the park office for a briefing by a park ranger, who will explain the rules and guidelines for the hike to Dian Fossey’s grave. You will then begin your trek into the forest. Upon reaching the grave site, you will have an hour to explore the area, take photographs, and reflect on the legacy of Dian Fossey and her work with mountain gorillas. After the visit, you will return to your lodge for an afternoon of relaxation, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trekking and  Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Travel time + 2 hrs

Today, after your warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari driver-guide and transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your golden monkey trekking experience. Similar to gorilla trekking, this adventure involves tracking primates through the forest, though it is generally less strenuous. After your trek, you will return for lunch, and then proceed to cross into Uganda via the Cyanika border. Your journey continues to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi, where you will spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi Canoe ride and Transfer to Bwindi

After your morning breakfast, you will set off for an exciting canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most spectacular lakes in the region. Famous for its serene beauty and numerous small islands, Lake Bunyonyi is a top tourism highlight in western Uganda. After the canoe excursion, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, heading to the sector where your gorilla trekking permit has been allocated. Bwindi NP is the national park  in the Uganda to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Upon arrival, you will enjoy lunch and then take part in a Batwa cultural experience. This visit to the local Batwa communities offers a unique opportunity to learn about their traditional lifestyle, cultural heritage, and day to day practices. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable NP

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and guidelines to observe while in the presence of the mountain gorillas. Following the briefing, you will begin your trek into the forest in search of these gentle giants. The experience is both magical and physically demanding, as you navigate various trails and dense thickets. Along the way, you may encounter a variety of bird species, other primates, and wildlife, adding to the richness of the experience. Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend a memorable hour observing and photographing them in their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure, relaxing and reviewing the wonderful photos captured during your adventure. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your booked lodge.

Day 9:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth: Travel time +5hrs

After enjoying your morning breakfast, you will board your safari vehicle and begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the scenic Ishasha sector. This part of the drive is particularly captivating, with its winding forested landscapes and the possibility of spotting tree climbing lions and various wildlife along the way including elephants, antelopes, and, if you’re lucky, the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. You will have an en route lunch during the drive. Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will check in at your safari lodge, where you will enjoy dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.

Day 10: Game drive and  boat cruise in Queen Elisabeth NP

Today, you may choose to begin your day with a morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. You will then return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, renowned for its rich diversity of water-dwelling birds and animals. Expect to see species such as the pied kingfisher, African fish eagle, herons, and darters, as well as animals like buffaloes, Nile crocodiles, monitor lizards, and elephants cooling off in the mud. After the cruise, enjoy a short game drive as you make your way back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer back to Kigali

Today after having a relaxed morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and drive back to Kigali via Kitagata hot springs to view the beautiful hot springs’ back to Kigali with an en route lunch at a convenient restaurant along the way to Kigali. If time permits, head for a city tour to visit Kigali genocide memorial centre or opt relax at your hotel as you wait for dinner and overnight stay at at the booked accommodation.

Day 12: Transfer to the Airport.

After a relaxed breakfast at 8:00 AM, you will check out of the hotel and embark on a short city tour of Kigali. This offers a final opportunity to explore the highlights of Rwanda’s vibrant capital before being transferred to Kigali International Airport by 2:00 PM in time for your outbound flight.
