Prepare yourself for a journey that will take you from the heights of Africa to the depths of its savannas, and finally, to the serene shores of the Indian Ocean.
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Your journey begins as you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will be greeted by a friendly representative who will assist with your transfer to Moshi. This town, nestled at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, will be your home base as you prepare for the challenging days ahead. Spend the evening at your leisure, resting and acclimatizing, with the majestic peak of Kilimanjaro looming in the distance.
Day 2: Moshi to Machame Gate (1490m) to Machame Camp (2980m)
After an early breakfast, you will embark on the first leg of your Kilimanjaro adventure. A scenic drive through coffee plantations and lush forests brings you to the Machame Gate, the starting point of your trek. As you enter the rainforest, you will be surrounded by the vibrant sounds of wildlife and the fresh scent of damp earth. The trail gradually ascends through the dense forest, offering glimpses of exotic birds and perhaps even a few primates. After several hours of trekking, you will arrive at Machame Camp, your first overnight stop, nestled among the towering trees.
Day 3: Machame Camp (2980m) – Shira Camp (3840m)
On this day, the landscape begins to change as you leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper and rockier, with stunning views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau unfolding as you ascend. The vegetation thins out, revealing hardy shrubs and the iconic giant groundsels unique to this altitude. After a challenging climb, you will reach Shira Camp, situated on a broad plateau with spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Day 4: Shira (3840m) – Lava Tower (4630m) – Barranco Camp (3950m)
This day is crucial for acclimatization as you trek to higher altitudes before descending again to sleep. The route takes you towards the imposing Lava Tower, a massive rock formation that rises dramatically against the backdrop of the mountain. After reaching Lava Tower, you will begin a descent into the Barranco Valley, where the landscape becomes more varied and dramatic. The day ends at Barranco Camp, located beneath the imposing Barranco Wall, which you will conquer tomorrow.
Day 5: Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (4550m)
One of the most exhilarating days of the trek begins with the ascent of the Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical climb that requires some scrambling. As you climb, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and the glacier-clad peak of Kibo. After conquering the wall, the trail continues through undulating terrain, leading you to Karanga Camp, where you will rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.
Day 6: Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (4673m)
On this day’’s trek is shorter but steep as you make your way to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. The landscape becomes more barren and windswept as you ascend, with only hardy alpine plants clinging to the rocky slopes. Upon reaching Barafu, you will have an early dinner and retire to your tent for some much-needed rest. In just a few hours, you will begin the final ascent to the roof of Africa.
Day 7: Summit Attempt to Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Descent to Mweka Camp (3100m)
Your summit attempt begins just after midnight, under a blanket of stars. The climb is slow and steady, with the biting cold and thin air making every step a challenge. As dawn approaches, you will reach Stella Point on the crater rim, where the first rays of sunlight illuminate the vast expanse of Africa below. From here, it’s a short but strenuous trek to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the continent. After celebrating your achievement and taking in the breathtaking views, you will begin the long descent to Mweka Camp, where you will rest after an exhausting but unforgettable day.
Day 8: Mweka Camp (3100m) – Mweka Gate (1980m) – Transfer to Arusha
The final day of your trek is a descent through the lush rainforest, where you will be greeted by the sights and sounds of nature as you make your way to Mweka Gate. Upon reaching the gate, you will receive your summit certificate, a testament to your achievement. A short drive will then take you to Arusha, where you can relax and enjoy a well-deserved rest at your hotel.

After breakfast, you will depart for Tarangire National Park, known for its vast herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees.
