The Three Fishermen Boat of Lake Kivu Rwanda
The three fishermen boat of Lake Kivu in Rwanda is becoming famous, as a tourism attraction, with the uniqueness of the 3 boats tied up together and being propelled by a number of fishermen as they pedal out for fishing. The boats are made on local wood, and timbers, and another of wood, is used to connect all the three boats.
Though from afar it looks as if the three boats are distinctly separate, they are linked by flexible eucalyptus fishing rods. Walking on the rods as if they were tightropes, the men dash back and forth to make sure the net is completely secure.
The three fishermen boat on Lake Kivu Rwanda is becoming a unique photographic architect as a number of tourists wish to take the picture of the rare fishing boat compared to the usual single boats seen everywhere on maps.
During day time, the boats can be seen on the shore of the Lake, at Gisenyi and Kibuye, as the best spot to find them, and watch the fishermen experience as well on Lake Kivu, every afternoon, as they go for their daily fishing hunt with a number of the three fishermen boats. The boats are used for the fishing experience, a reason why they are called the fishermen boat, as they float on the waters of Lake Kivu, the largest fresh water lake of Rwanda, boarding Rwanda and Dr,. Congo.
There are around 3 fishermen in each boat, who help to pedal the boat, and sing their traditional songs, the reason why some call them ‘The singing fishermen of Lake Kivu’.
The boats are always attached with fishing nets, and lantern lamps, which produces the blue flame light that attract the fish to the nets.
The fishing experience starts at around 4.30 pm, where by the fisher men, all converge at the lake, make preparation, and later board their boats at around 5;15pm and head into the lake, with great singing, as this motivates them to pedal the boats.
A number of tourists have now started to include this in their itinerary, with Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris, as the leading company to know and sell more of this unique authentic experience, to their clients.
The fishing will run till around 5; 00 am in the morning where they return and meet the buyers who are ready to cash in for the night catch.
Sambasa is the common fish caught on the lake with some Tilapia as well.
The three fishermen boat of Lake Kivu, is later parked at the shores of the lake, to await the next night fishing. During day time, you can freely visit the shores and take the pictures for these boats.
