Overview
This 10 Days Rwanda Primate Wildlife will give you a great memory of the Rwandan tour where you explore and wrap up Rwandan attractions in just 10 days. You will be able to visit Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee and Canopy walk, Lake Kivu, Volcanoes National Park for Gorilla trekking and Golden monkey trek, Akagera National Park for big five safaris, Kigali City known as the cleanest city in Africa, adding in a visit to Lake Kivu to spice up your stay. You will be able to do both gorilla and golden monkey trekking which is a lifetime adventure.
Day 1: Transfer from the airport
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will proceed through customs and immigration before meeting our company guide, who will warmly welcome you to the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” as Rwanda is known. You will then be escorted to your booked hotel for a briefing on your upcoming 10-day Rwanda Primate and Wildlife Safari, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali City tour & transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today after your early morning breakfast, you will check-out to the lodge and drive for Kigali City tour, visiting the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors of the incident. After lunch, you will embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park along a magnificent route, arriving at your booked accommodation. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure, relaxing and preparing for the next day’s exciting trekking adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters. You will meet with your ranger who will brief you about the code of conduct while are trekking gorillas. You will then enter the forest in search of the gorillas. The trekking may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle and your group speed as well. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. After an unforgettable experience, you will walk back to the starting point, where you will be transferred to your lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you may choose to relax at the lodge at your leisure or opt for a cultural encounter at the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to gain insight into Rwandan culture. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at your hotel.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Gisenyi, travel Time +2hrs
Today after your warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing with your packed lunch and start off your day golden monkey trekking in search of these shy primates in the jungle. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking though not so hectic as gorilla trekking. Afterward, you will return to the lodge for lunch before transferring to Lake Kivu to relax and unwind by the lakeside.

Day 5: Coffee tour, Boat Trip and transfer to Nyungwe
After enjoying your morning breakfast, proceed to Kimbiri for an insightful coffee plantation and processing experience. Following this, you will be transferred to Lake Kivu, where you will embark on a boat trip, offering the opportunity to visit various islands within the lake. After lunch, continue your journey to Nyungwe National Park. Upon arrival check into Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy walk
Today, after your early morning cap of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour of finding the chimpanzees. After completing the chimpanzee trek, you will head to lunch before heading back into the forest for the exhilarating canopy walk experience, offering breathtaking views of Nyungwe’s lush environment. After a truly rewarding day, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Waterfalls Hike & Transfer to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast, set off on a waterfalls hike within the park, a 2-3-hour trek that takes you through stunning landscapes with multiple waterfalls. With some luck, you may also spot a variety of primates and bird species along the way. Later, return and begin your journey back to Kigali, enjoying a lunch stop en route and a visit to the King’s Palace Museum. You will arrive in Kigali by late afternoon.

Day 8: Transfer to Akagera National Park, travel time +2.5 hrs
Today, after your early breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari guide and leave for Akagera National Park at 8:00 am, the journey to Akagera National Park takes about 2.5 hours depending on the stopovers along the way, with the beautiful un winding landscape en route to the park, feel free to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos. On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation, after a short game drive and check in, you will then head for a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores and meet the buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an evening stay.

Day 9: Full day Game drive and Night game drive
After your morning breakfast at the lodge, you will head off for a full day game drive sightings, and you continue with your animal searching for wildlife in the park. You may take a different route, for more encounters to explore this beautiful park. Picnic lunch will be served during the course of the day. Later in the evening, head for a night game drive, to be able to have some sightings of some nocturnal wildlife. You will later be transferred back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Walk the line Experience and Airport transfer
In the morning, after breakfast, embark on the “walk on the line” experience, a guided 7-kilometer walk along the fence of Akagera National Park, led by rangers who will provide fascinating insights about the park. Later, drive back to Kigali. Depending on the timing of your departure flight, you may enjoy a city tour, including a visit to the vibrant Kimironko local market and an opportunity for souvenir shopping, before heading to the Airport for your departure.
