The lodge sits directly on Lake Ihema’s shoreline in Akagera National Park. It is nestled among palm trees and fever tree forests. This location provides immediate access to lake wildlife like hippos and water birds.The lodge is convenient for wildlife lovers as boat safaris depart from near the lodge tents and game drive routes begin minutes from the property.

Ruzizi tented Lodge features two distinctive tent categories:
Standard Tents
Seven raised safari tents with lake views feature king/twin beds, ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, and private decks. Made of canvas and local timber, they offer comfortable wilderness living with charging points and safe storage.
Tree-Top Tents at Ruzizi Tented Lodge
Nine elevated tents accessed by wooden walkways provide panoramic lake views from private balconies. These larger units include king beds, lounge areas, and enhanced privacy. Glass viewing panels allow wildlife observation from bed.
All tents include mosquito netting, solar power, and eco-friendly amenities.
Amenities
All meals are included in the stay at Ruzizi Tented Lodge, and the team serves them in a communal dining tent. Cooks freshly prepare dishes with local ingredients, and staff can cater for dietary requirements with advance notice. The camp runs on solar energy, providing lighting in the tents and limited charging facilities for small devices at set times. Guests enjoy evenings around a campfire, where they share stories under the stars. Guides organize game drives and birding walks to explore the surrounding wilderness. The camp offers basic washing facilities, and staff provide safe drinking water throughout the day.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge stays open throughout the year, so you can plan your visit in any season. Since the lodge offers only nine en-suite tents, you enjoy a private and relaxed atmosphere, and we recommend booking early. Children from six years and above can stay, while younger children cannot for safety reasons. You can check in from early afternoon, and you need to check out by late morning. The lodge runs entirely on solar power, and it provides both hot and cold running water. In addition, you enjoy full-board meals in a setting that overlooks Lake Ihema. Trained staff focus on your safety and comfort, and wildlife around the lodge brings a true safari feeling. Evenings often feel cool, so bring warm clothing, insect repellent, a flashlight, and your safari gear to make the most of your stay.
