2 Days Rwanda Cultural Tour

Overview

Your 2-day Rwanda Cultural Tour will provide you with a deep insight into Rwanda’s local culture, allowing you to connect with the local people and learn about their way of life. You will have a memorable experience interacting with villagers and even trying your hand at some cultural activities. These community-based projects not only preserve traditions but also create employment opportunities and provide alternative sources of income.

During the tour, you will visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, a unique and immersive experience that you shouldn’t miss during your visit to the Volcanoes region. Additionally, a visit to the Nyamirambo Women’s Center will offer you a personal and insightful look into Rwandan culture, history, and daily life.

Day 1: Visit the Iby’ Iwacu Cultural Village, travel time +2hrs

Today, you will be picked up early in the morning by our safari guide at 7:00 AM, just after having breakfast. You will then be transferred to Nyabigoma, Kinigi, Musanze District, Northern Province, a journey of approximately two and a half hours from Kigali. Along the way, you will enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Rwanda’s rolling countryside, famously known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Feel free to ask your driver-guide about the fascinating sights along the route or request stops for photography.

After a short drive, you will arrive at the heart of Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, a remarkable community project that provides employment, empowers locals, and offers sustainable alternatives to poaching. Upon arrival, a local guide will warmly welcome you and provide insight into Rwanda’s rich cultural history.

During your visit, you will engage in various activities, including exploring traditional huts, tasting local brews, witnessing a traditional marriage ceremony, and listening to captivating storytelling. The experience will conclude with a lively performance by talented dancers and drummers showcasing traditional Rwandan dances, and you’re welcome to join in!

A delicious meal will be served during the visit. In the afternoon, you will drive back to Kigali for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Nyamirambo Women Center

After a relaxed breakfast, you will be transferred to the Nyamirambo Women’s Center to visit the cultural center. Here, you will participate in a hands-on sisal basket weaving workshop, enjoy a guided walking tour, and take part in a traditional cooking class with Aminatha.

You will also visit the Heart and Craft Gallery, where you will have the opportunity to purchase traditional African costumes.

In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to your booked accommodation or the airport for your flight.
