A 1 Day Akagera National Park Game Drive to Akagera National Park takes you on an exciting adventure to explore Rwanda’s only savanna park, located in the eastern part of the country along the border with Tanzania. This park offers the unique opportunity for a safari game drive, the only one of its kind in Rwanda. Akagera National Park is home to the Big Five, with the recent reintroduction of lions. It hosts a diverse range of mammal species, including elephants, giraffes, hippos, kobs, zebras, bushbucks, and waterbucks. Additionally, black rhinos were recently introduced from South Africa, restoring Akagera’s status as a Big Five park, just as it was many years ago.

Akagera Safari Experience

Early this morning, after having breakfast, your safari driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 5:30am for your 1 Day Akagera National Park Game Drive, the park is located approximately 2.5 hours from Kigali.

Akagera National Park is primarily a savanna park and is home to elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, topis, and the recently reintroduced lions. You will embark on a game drive in search of these wildlife species, as well as numerous bird species. The game drive can last around four hours, depending on animal sightings and your interests. Enjoy the picnic lunch inside the park, after your final game drive, you will exit the park and return to Kigali, arriving later in the evening. This will mark the end of 1 Day Akagera National Park Game Drive.
