Wilderness Magashi Camp
Akagera National Park
Wilderness Magashi Camp is a luxury safari camp in the wild north of Akagera National Park. It gives you a private way to see Rwanda’s only Big Five park, with safaris by boat, day, and night. Guests choose Magashi because it combines the wide beauty of Akagera’s savannah and lakes with excellent service and comfort. In addition, the camp is well known for its warm atmosphere, expert guides, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Rwanda Eco Company uses Wilderness Magashi Camp as a high end accommodation in our exclusive luxury safari packages.
Location
Wilderness Magashi Camp sits inside a private area of northeastern Akagera National Park, overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga. From this location, you can watch hippos, crocodiles, and many rare birds right from camp. Beyond the lake, open plains, woodland, and wetlands stretch out, creating rich habitats for lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and leopards. Because Magashi is already inside the park, you start every game drive directly from camp, so there are no long transfers.
Rooms
Wilderness Magashi Camp has only eight tented suites, which keeps the experience calm and exclusive. Each tent at Wilderness Magashi Camp includes an en-suite bathroom, either a king or twin bed, and a private deck facing the water. Inside, natural canvas, wood, and Rwandan design give a mix of comfort and style. Moreover, the large windows let in natural light and fresh air. Mosquito nets, fans, and soft bedding make sure you rest well, while the terrace lets you watch hippos and birds without leaving your room.
Amenities
The camp offers many ways to relax between safaris. The main area has open decks, a lounge, dining space, fire pit, and pool, all overlooking the lake. Meals combine international flavors with Rwandan ingredients, and drinks are included throughout your stay. In addition, expert guides lead daily activities such as game drives, boat safaris, and night drives. Birdwatchers will especially enjoy the wetlands, which are home to rare species. After a day of adventure, you can enjoy sundowners at the fire pit or share stories in the lounge. Although Wi-Fi is available in the central area, many guests at Wilderness Magashi Camp prefer to disconnect and fully enjoy the wild.
