One&Only Gorilla's Nest

One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is an ultra-luxury lodge set close to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. It is one of the nearest places to stay for gorilla trekking, and it feels private and peaceful, with rooms built like treehouses among tall eucalyptus trees. Location

The lodge is in Kinigi, Musanze District, right outside Volcanoes National Park, so the gorilla trekking start point is only minutes away. It sits in a fresh eucalyptus forest with clear views of Rwanda’s volcanic peaks. Guests can also visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, explore local villages, or take scenic drives around Musanze, making it easy to combine trekking with culture and nature.

Rooms

Accommodation ranges from Forest King Treehouses and Double Queen Treehouses to the Virunga Suites, the Ingagi Suite, and the Silverback Suite. Each room has a private deck, a modern bathroom, soft beds, and forest views, along with a coffee machine, snacks, and fresh flowers. The larger suites add more space and comfort, with wellness stations, private dining, or chef service, so every room feels warm, stylish, and connected to nature.

Amenities

All meals are included, with menus blending fresh Rwandan dishes and international cuisine, alongside house wines, local beers, and soft drinks. Guests can use the gym, sauna, and steam rooms, and unwind at the wellness center with spa treatments, reiki, and sound therapy. For gorilla trekking, the team provides ponchos, gaiters, and backpacks, and can arrange cultural visits, guided walks, and community activities. At the end of the day, the fire pit, gardens, and lounge offer quiet places to relax.

Good to Know

Check-in starts at 2:00 pm and check-out is by 11:00 am. Children under 15 cannot stay, as park rules do not permit them to trek with gorillas, and pets are not allowed. Gorilla and golden monkey trekking cannot be done on the morning of departure, as these activities take most of the day. Cancellations due to weather or illness remain chargeable.
