Gorilla Ranges in Africa. There are two types of the gorillas, namely; The Eastern lowland gorillas and Mountain gorillas. Eastern lowland gorillas are found in part of the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda and Rwanda, while mountain gorillas are only found within the Virunga mountain region straddling the DRC, Rwanda and Uganda borders, as well as the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.
Western lowland gorillas inhabit Cameroon, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, eastern DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola.
Cross River gorillas are confined to a small region in Nigeria and Cameroon.
Conservation efforts by WWF, other organizations and governments are making a difference for gorillas. New protected areas are being designated for some gorilla populations, and the population of mountain gorillas has seen an increase in recent years.
Both Uganda and Rwanda have over 10 habituated groups of gorilla families that are introduced for tourism purposes and research.
For trekking purposes, a gorilla permit in Rwanda cost $1500 while in Uganda it cost $700 both rates are per person per allocated gorilla group per day.
